The Godsafe Family
This pureblood family has a reputation of being Death Eaters and overall supporters of Voldemort and his cause. Céleste, an emotionally fragile woman who survived the war but not unscathed, is desperate to regain her family's standing and prove to the Wizarding world that they're trustworthy. She marries Dashiell Havenshire, Ministry worker, but they keep the Godsafe name for the family. Céleste gives birth to Sora before Dashiell becomes heavily involved at work. Ventus and Roxas are born next, followed not long after by Vanitas, and though Dashiell is fully aware they aren't his sons, he treats them no differently whenever he's home. While Céleste was delighted that she bore so many sons to carry on the family name, she was disappointed and depressed that she had yet to have a daughter. After another affair with Vanitas' father, however, Céleste got her wish, and Xion was born. Much to Céleste's shock and dismay, though, her daughter was born a Squib. After years of trying to force magic into and out of her, Céleste was forced to give up hope that Xion would ever be a witch.

Family Relations
Of the siblings, Roxas is closest to Xion. Their personalities are the similar and they are both quiet, introverted types, and they share many comfortable silences. Sora and Ventus are also very close, as they share many personality traits and similar coping mechanisms. They are both cheerful and friendly to compensate for the darkness in the lives of them and their siblings, and to take the attention away from Roxas and Xion when they want to be left alone, and to try to make them smile when they're feeling depressed. Vanitas takes after the Death Eater side of the family, much to his mother's dismay, and was embittered by life early on.

When they were young, Ventus and Vanitas were very close. One day while they were playing together, they overheard their mother speaking to their father about how the children were not all Dashiell's. Shocked by this revelation, Ventus made Vanitas swear that he would not tell their siblings. Ventus has since coped by trying even harder to be happy and pretend that their family is a cohesive unit, but Vanitas did not take well to the fact that their parents had been hiding the truth from them. Having inherited his mother's paranoia, Vanitas began to suspect everything about their lives was a lie. This is when he turned hard, sarcastic, and cruel, going as far as to bully Xion. After all, she's not really his sister. She's just dragging the family down, right?

Vanitas' bullying of Xion was never tolerated by Roxas, who would become increasingly enraged until there was a great rift between the two boys. Because Vanitas likes to corner Xion when Roxas isn't around (because Roxas is bothersome), she began to fight back as well, but his words still heavily impact her. Whenever there is an argument between Vanitas, Roxas, and/or Xion, Sora and Ventus do their best to break it up and play mediators and smooth out the aftermath.

Céleste largely leaves the children to their own devices except when she decides that it is time to be a good mother and dote on them or break up fights. She is fond on spoiling her sons with material goods, but her attention to Xion goes back and forth between favoritism and emotional abuse, as Céleste herself is torn between loving her for being the daughter she's always wanted and hating her for being a Squib and not fulfilling her every expectation. While Céleste was delighted by the Sorting of Sora, Ventus, and Roxas, she was horrified by the placement of Vanitas, for he harkened back to the dark days of the family. This has created a rift between Céleste and Vanitas, much to the boy's heartbreak and rage, and this has only fed into his paranoia and aggressive attitude.

Miscellaneous
☇ Dashiell is Sora's father.
☇ Roxas and Ventus are twins.
☇ Vanitas and Xion share a father, who is of closer blood relation to their mother.
☇ Xion is a Squib because she is more inbred.

The Arkwright Family
Chiemi Young was a simple British-Japanese entrepreneur that had jump started her own business from home in a matter of years. Her family was moderately wealthy and helped her business through its rocky starts, and she made a good living in the Muggle world, oblivious to magic. That was, until she met Arthur Arkwright, a wizard mourning the passing of most of his family in the Second Wizarding War. As the days passed and they grew to love each other, they married, and settled in Northern Britain. Years later, Chiemi would become pregnant with twins. After many fever-filled hours, Mera Arkwright was born, sporting the same look as his mother. His twin brother, Riku Arkwright, was born twenty minutes later, by C-section.

Even as babies, Riku and Mera didn't get along very well. This would extend to both boys as they grew up. Mera, as the older sibling, would grow to be given responsibilities and freedoms that Riku was not--on the other hand, as the younger, Riku was subject to coddling by both parents (and both attitudes would sometimes get frustrated "We're only twenty minutes apart!" from either party). Both children showed magic at a young age, to which Arthur had to open up more about the wizarding world to his wife. Chiemi and her family already adored both boys, and the thought of them being wizards only made it that much more obvious, as the family supported them 100%, almost to overzealous lengths that had both Riku and Mera questioning what exactly was going on. Arthur had always gone to Durmstrang, and as a formality, when they were invited to Durmstrang as well, he supported them going there. Chiemi agreed, and the boys spent their first three years at Durmstrang with little incident.

In those three years, Chiemi grew more and more involved in the Wizarding world as a Muggle, researching and reading all she could. The more she grew interested in it, the more opinions she gained, until she finally mused that she'd feel safer if the boys went to Hogwarts, as it was both closer and not as Dark-affiliated. She and Arthur discussed this with the boys, and neither particularly minded. It was done: they were being transferred over into Hogwarts for their fourth year.

They were Sorted separately -- and both brother was surprised to see that, for once in their lives, they were on opposite sides. Mera was sorted into Gryffindor while Riku was sorted into Slytherin.

A Legend
Mickey Mousley has been hailed as one of the most talented wizards to pass through Hogwarts since the war. He's well-known for his curious mind and friendly nature. When he was a student, he was quite excitable, and one night at dinner his friends encouraged him to test out a new spell of his. Unfortunately, due to his heightened emotional state, the spell overshot and the Great Hall was flooded within seconds. Yen Sid, who has a reputation of rarely leaving his office except on dire occasion, came in to clean it up. Afterwards, he asked to speak with Mickey in private. Everyone assumed that this meant he would surely be expelled, but to their surprise, he returned to his friends, proclaiming that he was now to take private lessons with the headmaster himself! And the rest, as they say, is history.

Xion and Kefka
One year, while lingering awkwardly on Platform 9 3/4s to see her brothers off, Xion quite literally bumped into a Slytherin boy. Rather than being upset, he instead turned out to be quite excitable and engaged her in conversation. Before Xion knew it, she found herself friends with young Kefka Palazzo, Seeker of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. After a conversation about House placement (Xion lied and told him she wasn't old enough to attend Hogwarts yet in which Xion confessed that if she had to pick, she would want to be in Gryffindor), Kefka vowed send her some Gryffindor-themed gifts.

Xion and Draco
After the war, Draco took up running a bookstore ... of sorts. It's run more like a library, because Draco will heckle anyone out of buying anything. It's his store, after all, and he furnished it with all his own money! So he can do with it what he damn well pleases, thank you. The Third-Hand Bookshop, as he decided to name it, straddles the Wizarding and Muggle worlds and is available to both. After all, anyone can enjoy a good book.

During the school year, Xion is lonely and left pretty well to herself. When she sees an advertisement in Diagon Alley for a bookstore, she let her curiousity take her to check it out, since she didn't have anything else to do. She quickly fell in love with the Third-Hand Bookshop, and automatically settled down in the corner with a book, even without an explanation of the truth of the store. She soon became a regular fixture in the shop, and Draco couldn't help but ask her why she kept coming to a bookstore where no one buys any books. Misunderstanding what he meant, Xion hurriedly offered to pay for the book she was currently reading. Baffled, Draco adamantly refused and sent her back to her reading corner. This only cemented her state as a regular 'customer.'
